(press release distribution) Passengers on Budapest’s public transit system have been told that there won’t be an increase to travel prices in 2012, transport authority BKK having decided not to pass on the country’s forthcoming VAT rise to 27%, one of the highest in Europe.
In a move sure to encourage families and small groups of between two and five to switch from private to public transport, an unlimited daily travel pass has been introduced that will cost Ft 3,100 (£9).
UK-based consumer events company The Stag Company, specialists in the organisation of Budapest stag dos, have welcomed the move towards cheap group travel passes. Commenting on the proposals, CEO Rob Hill said: “I was pleased to read about the BKK’s proposals. Many of our Budapest stag packages involve a great deal of travel around the city and this means that we can continue to provide great value stag weekends without expecting our customers to fork out for their travel around the city.”
The Stag company provide bespoke packages across Europe, with Budapest being one of their most popular destinations. Available activities in the city include lap dancing club entry, guided bar crawls, an afternoon on a shooting range and go-karting. Although transfers to and from these are usually included, Hill points out that the best bar crawls take in all corners of the city.
“A stag do Budapest style wouldn’t be the same unless you were able to get out to places like district XXII and XVII, places where the locals like to drink and mingle with in-the-know tourists who like to wander off the prescribed paths.”
The organisation claim that they have ‘enough stag do ideas to fill every lap dancing club, casino and bar from Brighton to Bratislava’ and with packages on offer in over 80 pan-European destinations, these bold claims seem more than founded.
