(press release distribution) The world of Saville’s Row is a place to find a creative collection of garments that are made to order by the seamstress behind the operation, Louise Howard. With a background in art, primarily oil painting, you might find it a little strange that Louise has decided to lend her time to creating made to measure, stylish clothes, especially having no prior experience in the field. But this young lady, originally from London, now based in sunny San Clemente, California, felt compelled to initiate her own line. She wanted to inject a little London flair into her range. Having been surrounded by an entirely different culture to the one she was used to, Louise admits she tired of the very familiar uniform of vest top, shorts and flip flops that the Southern Californian climate and culture dictate she wore, and she missed the fun of dressing up and enjoying fashion. So, with cautious ambition, she dove into the world of sewing, and 6 months later, has created her own range.

A distinct London palette is detectable in the style of Louise’s clothing, with one of her more prominent dress designs – the 60’s mod dress, being a particular favourite look of hers. She includes casual jackets with quirky touches, like ruffled colours and creates key pieces in statement patterned fabrics – something she feels is essential in what constitutes London style. It is clear to see that there is perhaps more than a little influence from by – gone eras in Louise’s work. She is drawn to those very particular and stylish looks from the 1940′s , which incorporate tea dresses and flared skirts, right through to the 1960′s where the height of hem lines was way above the knee and the structure of clothes was a little more simplistic.

With these concepts as a background, Louise adapts her creations to suit today’s culture, and unifies the beautiful fabrics she chooses with her designs so that the result is a cohesive and striking piece of clothing.

Saville’s Row was the chosen title, given as a nod to the prestigious Savile Row of London where gentleman’s suits and other such garments are produced. (She also chose the name Saville as dedication to her favourite female artist, Jenny Saville).

The collection is still in its infantile stages, but growing steadily, and with a large following already on Facebook, it looks set to increase in popularity rapidly.
