(Broadcasterr.com) Triton Films proves yet again you don’t need $200 Million to make something that has the quality of a Hollywood Blockbuster. You just need a few thousand dollars and some ingenuity.
The company known for starting the directing career of Elysium and District 9 helmer, Neill Blomkamp, has just released it’s latest ground-breaking short AMP, directed by Adam Marisett who was an animator on both of Neill’s films.
Gabriel Napora, CEO of Triton Films says, “When I saw Adam’s work, I knew I’d found someone who has a lot of potential. I think that a skilled visual effects artist who has great ambition can blossom with the support and guidance from an experienced producer. There are many things about Adam that remind me of working with Neill even though their styles are quite different.”
The short has already garnered buzz on world renowned blogs with all giving it favorable reviews.
Triton’s become known for making ground-breaking short films at costs unheard of. Previous short films / proof of concepts Tetra Vaal, Broken Saints, Somnolence, and Hybrids all received a lot of press and strong buzz in the internet community.
“Even though people have started to see what we can do as a company, I’m not in a big hurry to make huge Hollywood blockbusters. I think there’s a real market for doing things at an intelligent budget level with meaningful storylines. Of course, we’ll always have epic visuals too and we’ve proven we can do that regardless of budget.”
The company’s ability to keep costs down at a time of uncertainty in Hollywood has put Triton on the radar of the major Studios who are keeping an eye on the development of the company’s projects.
“It takes a certain kind of investor to see the huge potential of what we have here.”
Currently, this boutique film company in downtown Vancouver is busy putting the pieces together to get its present slate of visual effects heavy pictures financed through private investment.
